Production Process of Portfolio Project

Hey everyone! I hope you guys are having a fantastic morning. Who is ready to learn more about the production process for 'Only Mine'? I sure am! For today's blog post, I will be providing an overview on the importance of sound effects and graphics for Film Trailers. This post will solely focus on how sound and graphics add to the development of films. With that being said, let us hope right into it!

Sound or audio is a crucial part in the development of productions. Sound has the ability to immerse the audience in a unique world, help tell the story, or move the storyline forward. Additionally, sound helps create emotion and set the tone of the film. A film's sound is just as important as the visuals being shown, if not more.

As mentioned before, sound effects are essential to films. This is because sound effects create a sense of immersion, realism, and emotion for the audience. Sound effects allow viewers to understand or connect with the story better. Sound effects cause the story to become more alive and enhance the visual impact of the film. As a result, the audience is able to feel the tension or mood of the production.

Here are some links that provide further information on the importance of sound effects in productions:

You might be wondering, "What are Graphics?" Graphic design is an important part of visual storytelling. Graphic design allows the storyline to move forward, and it causes each scene to look special. Graphics can be portrayed as text, images, or animation. This causes graphics to convey information in a way that complements the film style.

Graphics are a crucial part of film trailers. This is because they help the audience connect each scene to the storyline. Graphics provide hints as to what is taking place in each scene. Regarding film trailers, graphics can be seen as a phrase or a sentence. This sentence provides an extra detail that gives the audience a deeper understanding at what they are being shown. Without graphics, your audience could potentially be confused about the elements of your film trailer.

Here are some links that provide further information on all the types of graphics in productions:

That was just an overview or introduction of the necessity of graphics and sound in films. Don't worry, in my future blog posts, I will share with you guys the sound and graphics I have chosen for 'Only Mine'. It is just crucial that you guys are fully aware of the components of sound or graphics throughout film. With this being said, I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day and I love you all. XOXO!

Production Process of Portfolio Project

Hey readers, I have missed you guys! I hope everyone is having an amazing day and is prepared for today's blog post. Today, I will be explaining the software I will be using to edit 'Only Mine' and the role editing takes in a production. So, put on your seatbelts and get ready for today's journey!

Why is editing important?

The main goal of editing is to enhance the readability and impact of the visual work, making sure it effectively communicates the intended message of the Filmer or producer.  In other words, editing is used as a visual language. Editing allows filmmakers to control the flow of information and trigger emotions. In addition, editing allows the filmmaker to develop a seamless narrative.

What is Film Editing?

Film editing involves sudden sounds, off-screen voices, scene transitions, quick cuts, etc. Film editing is known as an "invisible art". Every editing technique is put together for the creation of a movie or film. Every step a filmmaker takes to edit their production adds to the flow or narrative of their film.

What is the impact of editing on productions?

Editing has a major impact on productions. How a production runs is fully affected by editing. Editing causes a storyline or narrative to merge. In addition, editing allows each scene to come to life and be placed in their correct order. Without editing, productions would not exist. Editing is the determining factor that affects the course of a production!

Here are some links that further explain the importance of editing:

You might be wondering, "What does Pr stand for?" To answer your question, the picture above illustrates an icon for an editing software. This icon is used for the Adobe Premiere Pro app, and it showcases the software I will be using to edit 'Only Mine'.  Adobe Premiere Pro has various benefits. These include a large library of visual effects, in-depth color correction, multi-screen compatibility, etc.

Adobe Premiere Pro gives me access to various utensils that are very beneficial for the creation of my production.  This is not my first-time using Adobe Premiere Pro, so I am already comfortable with the app. I am confident that this is the correct software to use, and I am excited to see how my editing journey will pan out. On my future blog posts, I will make sure to further explain or provide examples of my editing process!

With that being said, that is a wrap for today! Thank you, guys, for checking my blog today, and I hope everyone enjoyed what they read. I hope everyone can understand the importance of editing and how it affects productions. Have an amazing day and I will see you all very soon. XOXO!

Production Process of Portfolio Project

Welcome back everyone, I hope you guys are having a marvelous day! I hope today brings you an immense amount of joy and happiness. Today's blog post will be light, but we will continue to go over the Production Process of 'Only Mine'. I will continue to provide you guys with pictures or moments of my Filming Process. In addition, I will reflect on my process and go over any obstacles I encountered. With that being said, let us begin ...

                                                                       Picture 1:

In this picture, I was filming one of the scenes from the second trailer. I was going over lines with Austin (Jacob's character) and answering any questions the rest of the cast had. Austin was able to learn his lines quickly and my cast was highly supportive of him.

Picture 2:

In this picture, my cast members were practicing for one of the scenes where Jacob begun to stalk Sarah. I had them practice the motions of the scene and we tried out a fairly closed-in setting. The cast members in this picture are Isabel, Lucia, and Austin. They represent the characters for Courtney, Sarah, and Jacob.

Now that you guys have been given moments of my filming process, it is time for me to reflect on my filming process...

My filming process was a very fun experience. I was given the chance to collaborate with others and improve my leadership skills. Additionally, I became more comfortable or knowledgeable with what it takes to develop a production. For a production to be developed, you need a reliable cast, the proper camera equipment, an immense amount of research/planning, etc. I made sure that I completed each one of those steps successfully.

Even though my filming process had many ups, I did encounter some downs. Some obstacles I faced involved audio issues and my casts' memorization of their lines. Since I filmed mostly outside, there was an outdoor noise pick up in some of the scenes. To fix this issue, I had my actors/actresses record a voiceover so the audio would only focus on what the characters were saying. Regarding my casts' memorization of their lines, I gave them five minutes before each scene to go over the script. As they did this, I went over with them the motions or body language of each character.

Any filming process is not going to be perfect!  I definitely recognize this. I am grateful for the things that went well and for the obstacles I encountered. Each obstacle I encountered taught me something new and I will definitely use what I learned for future productions! You must not see your mistakes as failures, but as areas where you can learn or grow. The filming process for 'Only Mine' is one to remember and I am grateful for everything I went through.

Production Process of Portfolio Project

Hey everyone! I hope you guys are having a great day. Today's blog post will consist of an overview of my filming process. This is just an introduction to my filming process, and I will be providing you guys with a few pictures of how filming took place.  With that being said, let us hop right into it...

Before we begin, you guys might be wondering, "So, where did you decide to film 'Only Mine'?" To answer your question, I decided to film 'Only Mine' at Weston Town Center. Weston Town Center was very local and accessible for my cast members and I. In addition, the environment was extremely friendly, and we were able to film each scene without any interruptions.

My production team and I filmed indoors and outdoors (parks, restaurants, walkways, etc.) Before we filmed in any store or on property, we made sure we had the permission of each owner. Every owner was friendly and fully understood the purpose of my project. Here is a picture of Weston Town Center for those that forgot:

Now that you guys are aware of the official location for 'Only Mine,' I will provide you guys with a few pictures of my filming process. For each picture, I will give an explanation of what was taking place at the given time. Here we go!

Picture 1:

In this picture, I was filming the opening shot for one of the main characters (Sarah). As you can see, I used a Tripod to film and my cast member (Lucia) was very excited to film. In this picture, I was going through the actions of Sarah in this scene and making sure the camera obtained the full scope of the setting.

                                                                       Picture 2:

In this picture, I was going over the script for a scene with main characters (Jacob and Sarah). This was the scene where Jacob and Sarah had their breakup. In this moment, I was making sure that my cast members (Austin and Lucia) fully understood their lines and the actions of their characters.

Picture 3:

In this picture, my cast members were preparing to film the scene where Jacob begins to lash out at Sarah. In this moment, I was going over the body language of their characters and preparing to film the scene.

Picture 4:

Here is a fun picture of my production team and me. This picture includes most of my cast and/or people who joined to see how my filming journey would take place. This picture took place at the end of our first filming day and as you can see, we had a great time!

I hope everyone enjoyed the pictures showcasing my filming process! I had a great time filming, and these are only a few of the pictures that were taken to capture these precious moments. Stay tuned for more pictures and I will see you guys soon. Have a wonderful day, XOXO...

Production Process of Portfolio Project

Welcome, Welcome, and Welcome Back! Today, we will begin the production process for 'Only Mine'. From now on, my blogs will begin to discuss all the components of the filming and/or editing process of my production. However, today we will focus on the costuming process for each character.

Costumes are one of many tools that allows the director to tell the story. Costumes help communicate the details of a character's personality to the audience. Additionally, costumes help each actor/actress transform into new and believable people on screen.

You might be wondering, "What else can costumes convey about a film production?" Costumes can support the style of your production, help tell the story of your film, and distinguish between major/minor characters. All of these allow your audience to connect deeper with your film. Your audience is able to identify the trend of your production and see how each character adds to the plot. Costumes play a bigger role in productions than most people know! Without costumes, the audience is unable to connect each character with the storyline.

Here are some websites you can check out for further information on the importance of costumes in production:

With that being said, today I will be providing you guys with key points or examples of the costumes for each character in 'Only Mine'. These points/examples are what I want each character to look like in my film. Let us begin...

  • Athletic Clothes (Sweatpants, Slides, Etc.)

  • Baggy Clothes (Large Shirts)

  • Book Bag (Prop)

 Sarah:

Research/Planning for Portfolio Project

Welcome back everyone! Are you guys excited about today's blog post? I sure am...  Today, I will be discussing the last component of the planning stage for 'Only Mine'. I will be explaining the story board for my production. So, put your seat belts on and get ready for the journey we will go on today.

What is a Storyboard?

The storyboarding process has a high impact on any production. A storyboard is a sequence of drawings, usually with some directions and dialogue. In addition, storyboards represent the shots planned for a film or television production. Storyboards do a great job at providing a visual representation of your film sequence. For example, storyboards break down the action of the film into individual panels. It is a series of ordered drawings, with dialogue, direction, or other important details.

Developing a Storyboard

The creation of a storyboard consists of planning and visualizing the sequence of events in a production. A person must brainstorm or produce ideas of how they want the sequence of their production to go. That said, I will be providing you guys with steps on how to develop a proficient storyboard. Here we go...

Step 1:  Define Your Project

It is important to define your project in detail before developing your storyboard. You must decide on the type of film you are creating. The types of film you could develop are short films, documentaries, commercials, etc. Make sure you are aware of the story you want to portray and decide on the key goals or messages you plan to achieve throughout your project.

Step 2: Create Your Script

Since a storyboard requires storytelling and/or a scripted sequence of events, a crucial step is to develop your script or narrative. You must develop an elaborate script that showcases the action, sequence of events, and dialogue. After you complete this, break down your script into important scenes. Additionally, you should include transitions or actions that convey the message of your story.

Step 3: Storyboard Format and Structure

It is crucial that your storyboard has an effective structure or format. This means that it aligns with your production's needs. You have to take into consideration the number of frames or panels you will need to illustrate each scene. In addition, you must represent each shot or sequence how you plan to show them in your film.

Step 4: Sketch the Frames

As you have your script planned out, you can begin to sketch each scene. Sketch is another word for drawing. You must visualize each scene and draw the designated backgrounds, objects, characters, etc. Every composition, camera angle, and framing have to illustrate the emotion or mood of each scene correctly.

Step 5: Add Details

Next to each frame, include annotations or details that explain the action of each scene. In addition, your details can include camera movements or dialogue. You want to be very specific on how you plan to transition from each scene. For example, cuts, fades, or any other visual effects. This will ensure a smooth flow of the narrative of your production.

Step 6: Review and Revise

Search for feedback from team members, collaborators, or peers. This will help you to ensure that your storyboard aligns with the project's script and effectively communicates your vision. However, make sure you are open to constructive criticism to help improve your storytelling and visual composition.

Now, you guys are fully aware of what it takes to develop a storyboard that effectively showcases the plot of your film production! With that being said, I will be providing you guys with the storyboard for 'Only Mine'. As a reminder, I must develop two film trailers for my production. So, I will be giving you guys two storyboards.

                                                                       Trailer 1:

Trailer 2:

Please note that some scenes may change, however these storyboards are the basis of the 'Only Mine' production! Thank you, guys, for reading my blog today, it is greatly appreciated! If you have any comments, questions, or concerns please let me know. See you guys soon and have the best day. XOXO!

Research/Planning for Portfolio Project

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! How are you guys doing? I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. You guys might be wondering, "What do you have in store for us today, Morgan?" Well, that is a great question! Today, we will be discussing the props and set design for 'Only Mine'. You guys ready? Let us get straight into it.

Regarding film productions, props are very important. Props help with story-telling and complement or motivate each character. Props cause the actor/actress to feel more 'the part' or connected with the scene. In addition, props have an effect on the audience of a film or movie. Props make it easier for your audience to understand the theme of your film and it allows the film creator to connect with their audience on a personal level.

Props are formally known as theatrical objects. This means that props are objects that actors use on screen during a screen production. This is essential for the display of a film. The display of a film is what allows the storyline to come alive and the actors/actresses to connect with their characters. Props play a bigger role in production than most people know. Without props, there would be a disconnect in the storyline. The audience would not be able to clearly visualize what is taking place. Nonetheless, props are mandatory items to have when it comes to the success of a film production.

Here are some links you can check out to enhance your knowledge on the importance of props:

3. https://www.spurcreative.co.uk/blog/the-importance-of-props-in-film

Here are some of the props that will be used in 'Only Mine':

1. Book Bags

2. Purses

3. Food Items

4. Drink Items

5. Phones

6. Flowers

These are some of the props used in the film trailers for 'Only Mine'. Each prop corresponds with each scene and displays the actions of each character. For example, some scenes were filmed in restaurants. That is where the "food items and drink items" prop was used. Each prop used throughout the production holds significance and adds to the storyline.

Set Design

Regarding film production, set design is the creation of the physical space in which the action of a performed event takes place. Set design is used to described the scenery, props, appearance, and overall look of the production. Set design is used to make sure that the script matches the setting of a film production. It allows the audience to connect what they hear with what they see. The time of day, location, weather, etc are noted.

Similar to props, set design helps with the story-telling aspect of a production. In addition, it can communicate emotion and feeling throughout a production. Set designs are responsible for developing the connection between the storyline and the setting. Moreover, the main goal of set designs is to connect everything that is being shown, with what is mentioned throughout the script.

How Did I Do It?

With this being said, now you guys are able to understand how I completed the set design for 'Only Mine'. I made sure that each scene matched with the script and that the audience was able to understand the emotions of each character. As an example, for the romantic scenes in my production, I made sure each character portrayed the emotion of love and was comfortable with one another. As for scenery, I made sure that the setting portrayed modern dating or beautiful nature.

This was just a brief overview of my process but set design is incredibly important and should be taken very seriously. Make sure to read through all the information that was provided and any links for further information. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please let me know! Thank you guys for checking in today and I will see you all very soon. Have an amazing rest of your day! XOXO...

Research/Planning for Portfolio Project

Hey readers! I hope everyone is having the best day and is ready to learn about today's topic. The topic of this blog post is the 'Only Mine' shot list. I am excited to explain this topic because it describes the exact plan and setting for my film. With that being said, let us get right into it!

A shot list is a document that plans out everything that will happen in each scene of a film. In other words, a shot list describes each shot within a film. A shot list serves as a checklist, giving the project a sense of direction and preparedness for the film crew. In addition, a shot list is usually made in collaboration with the cinematographer, assistant director, and director. Shot lists also do a great job at connecting with the designated shooting schedule. Shot lists lets the film creator organize the shots or clips of each scene, relating to the shooting schedule.

Developing a film requires camera movement, actor staging, shot type, etc. A shot list offers all of these elements. Additionally, putting this information in your shot list allows filmmakers to remember what they wanted and how to execute it. Shot lists allow the director or production team to know what has been completed and what needs to be completed.

Here are some links that give you information on how to develop an effective shot list:

Research/Planning Portfolio Project

Welcome back everyone! I hope you guys are having a fantastic day and are ready to learn more about the production of 'Only Mine'. You guys might be wondering, "What will we learn about today?" Today, we will be discussing the print component of my Portfolio Project. The print component of 'Only Mine' consists of a movie poster. However, this blog post will only consist of research on movie posters. I will be describing the movie posters for two films or mediums relating to my genre and how a movie poster contributes to the production of a film. Let us begin...

Why are movie posters important?

Movie posters are crucial parts of any production process. They serve as promotional tools and offer glimpses into the setting, plot, and tone of the movie that is being advertised. Additionally, movie posters serve as a complementary art form for the film medium. Movie posters often set the tone of a film through design elements, imagery, and color schemes. These each contribute to the representation of the mood of the film. In other words, the poster gives viewers a glimpse into the emotional experience they can acquire.

Here are two links you guys can check out for further information on movie posters:

1.  https://webflow.com/blog/movie-poster-design#:~:text=They%20serve%20as%20promotional%20tools,mood%20of%20the%20movie%20itself.

2. https://theutahfilmfestival.com/love-at-first-sight-the-importance-of-a-great-movies-poster/#:~:text=Sets%20the%20Tone%3A%20The%20design,emotional%20experience%20they%20can%20expect.

Movie posters for well-known films:

1

As you can see, the title of the designated film is 'You'. The movie poster consists of a tagline, bold title, image, designated streaming service, and release dates. A tagline is a short description of the movie that captures the film's essence. The tagline does a good job at capturing the audience's attention and persuading them to watch the film. Next, a bold title is important because it allows the audience to identify the title and clearly see how important it is. The bold title used in this poster is in capitalized, white letters and has a cut in the middle of the letters. This can exhibit a sense of danger throughout the film.

As we move on, let us continue to discuss the elements of the movie poster above. The image of the movie poster is very important. The image gives potential viewers a glimpse of what they might expect from the story. In the movie poster for 'You,' a picture of Joe is provided. Joe is known as the main character or protagonist of the film. So, viewers are able to see who the main character of the TV-show is. Apart from this, the movie poster has a streaming service and release dates embedded. Streaming services and release dates allow the audience to know where they can access the movie and when it will be available to watch.

Researching the movie poster for 'YOU' has greatly inspired me. I now have a better idea of what I want to do for the movie poster for 'Only Mine'. I plan to showcase what I have learned and illustrate all elements of a proper movie poster. 'YOU' is a great representation of a movie poster that illustrates necessary elements and speaks for its genre.

2

As you can see, the title of the medium is 'Secret Obsession'. This movie poster is similar to the one used for 'YOU'. Both include an image, bold title, streaming service, and release date. However, this movie poster does not include a tagline. This is not ideal because a tagline is the sole way to express the theme or plot of the film. However, let us analyze what the movie poster for 'Secret Obsession' does provide. As I have mentioned before, the image used in a movie poster lets the audience see an important aspect of the film. The image used for this movie poster consists of the main characters. Additionally, the audience is able to see a girl running from a car. This can illustrate that the girl is afraid or running away from something dangerous. This is a great representation of the thriller genre.

As significant as the image is in a movie poster, a bold title and depiction of streaming services/release dates play important factors. Similar to 'YOU,' the title for 'Secret Obsession' is in capitalized, white letters. Through this, the audience is able to understand that this phrase is very important to the film. If not, the most important element on the movie poster. Moving on, the streaming service for 'Secret Obsession' is Netflix and its release date is July 18. The audience knows exactly where to view the film and is given a date to watch it.

Researching the movie poster for 'Secret Obsession' has been incredibly beneficial. Since the movie poster does not include a tagline, I now know to make sure to include all necessary elements of a film poster. Additionally, I was inspired through my research of this poster. For my production, 'Only Mine,' I am going to aim to provide an image that illustrates the main characters or plot of my film. I am also going to include a bold title that attracts the attention of my viewers.

Whew, that was a lot of information for today. The good thing is, is that you guys are all more knowledgeable about movie posters for different films. You guys all know the necessary components a film poster should include and you all have seen two good examples of it. That being said, thank you so much for checking out my blog today and see you guys very soon! XOXO...

Research/Planning for Portfolio Project

Hey everyone! I hope you guys are having a fantastic day. Today's blog will be light but very important. We will be discussing the shooting schedule of 'Only Mine.' Additionally, we will be discussing my location scouting process and any potential camera equipment I need to obtain before my production process. Let us begin ...

Developing a shooting schedule is an important part of the planning process of a production. A shooting schedule allows you to organize any important events in your production and set deadlines for yourself. Moreover, a shooting schedule allows your cast to know the exact date they have to be fully ready to perform. This includes full comprehension of lines, plot, and setting. Here is the shooting schedule I have written for my Portfolio Project.

'Only Mine' Shooting Schedule:

  • March 15th:

1. Record Sarah's Voiceovers

2. Film Scenes of Trailer 1

(Night and Daytime)

  • March 17th
1. Record Jacob's Voiceovers

2. Film scenes of Trailer 2

(Night and Daytime)

  • March 18th

1. Re-do scenes (if necessary)

2. Obtain any essential footage.

As you can see, I will be filming both trailers over the course of three days. Each trailer will be broken down into one day, and any necessary component that needs to be fixed, will be corrected on the last day. My team and I will spend a few hours working on the production on each of these days. This allows us to take our time and not rush anything. Since I will start filming in a week, from now until then, I will discuss my planning process more. I will be providing you guys with a shot lists, prop/set design, etc. This shooting schedule was just given as a way for you guys to stay continuously updated on the course of this project. To know things in advance.

Now that I have given you guys the shooting schedule for 'Only Mine,' let us talk about potential locations and camera equipment for my production.

Location Scouting

The location of a production is basically the setting of a production. Film location scouting is a very important process because it allows for suitable locations for the film to be identified and evaluated. The location of the setting has a high impact on the film. A setting creates the scenery, vibe, and feel to a movie. It allows the audience to create a connection with the film.  Here are some locations I have been considering for 'Only Mine':

                                                          1. Town Center (Weston, FL)

2. The Shops at Pembroke Gardens (Pembroke Pines, FL)

These two are great locations for showcasing how Jacob and Sarah meet. These would be ideal locations for illustrations of them on dates and/or falling for each other. Additionally, both of these locations are easily accessible. These pictures are just a brief overview of my location scouting process so far. I will definitely be adding more locations to my trailers, however, I just wanted to give you guys a hint at what to expect in the future.

Camera Equipment

Since I have created a shooting schedule and done some location scouting, I will be discussing potential camera equipment I could use when filming. Two well-known and beneficial production equipment are Tripods, Camera Stabilizers, etc. These are efficient for making sure film is steady or clear.
