Research/Planning for Portfolio Project

Hey readers, today we will get into the social media aspect of my Portfolio Project. Social media is an essential part of my Film Promotion Package. In addition, social media gives me the ability to market my film to my target audience. Social media also gives me a connection with my audience, brand awareness, brand loyalty, etc. With this being said, I will be going over three productions that illustrate the thriller and drama genre. However, let's discuss the overall importance of social media throughout productions.

Social media is a very important part of the production process. To begin, social media allows you to gain consumer insight during the development of your product. For every post, your target audience can give you constructive criticism or any comments and concerns they might have. Your viewers are able to create a better relationship with you and gain a better understanding of your production.

Social media makes two-way communication possible. As mentioned previously, this means that you are able to obtain consumer feedback from your posts. Although, you are able to communicate with your target audience as well. You can ask them what they'd like to see happen with your production. As a result, you are able to know exactly what your viewers want and create that.

Now, let us dive into the analysis of three media production's social media. The three productions I will be analyzing are Secret Obsession, Obsessed, and The Boy Next Door.

Media Text: Secret Obsession

Social Media Tool: Twitter

                                                Description of types of posts:

Each post is a representation of the film. Every post that is uploaded gives the audience a better understanding of the film. In addition, various scenes of the film are provided with catchy captions. This causes the audience to become more than engaged with what is being shown.

Description of how branding is developed (or not):

Branding is developed well on their social media. The audience can clearly see the purpose of the social media page and is given a good comprehension of that. In other words, 'Secret Obsession' is advertised extremely well on Twitter. The audience can easily understand what the production encodes and why they should go watch it.

Analysis of how you will use this to develop your own social media presence:

I will use this to create my own social media presence by making sure that my brand is clear to the audience. My main goal is to make sure that my film catches my target audience's attention in an efficient way. Researching 'Secret Obsession' social media page has showed me that this is possible! My social media presence will be extremely effective and proficient.

Media Text: Obsessed

Social Media Tool: Facebook

Description of types of posts:

The posts uploaded provide a preview of the setting and characters of the film. The audience is able to see the layout of the movie and the main characters/actors that will be in it. For example, Beyonce and Idris Elba. This provides the audience with hints of how the storyline is going to take place throughout the film.

Description of how branding is developed (or not):

As mentioned previously, branding is developed through providing the lay out of the film. The audience can see what the film represents and as a result, their attention is caught. The social media page does a good job at connecting the audience with the message of the film. Characters and setting play an essential part in the theme of a production.

Analysis of how you will use this to develop your own social media presence:

I will use this to develop my own social media presence by making sure that the message of my production is clear. From the very beginning of my posts, my audience will be given a clear representation of my film. My designated target audience will know exactly what to expect from my production.

Media Text: The Boy Next Door

                                                                 Social Media Tool: Twitter

                                                                Description of types of posts:

Each post gives the audience important facts or release dates for the film. In other words, every post keeps the audience aware of any important decisions made by the production team. All of the posts keep the audience informed and the audience is prone to keep coming back for more information.

Description of how branding is developed (or not):

Branding could be developed a bit better. Even though the audience is highly informed, it is essential that the representation or message of the film is incorporated. 'The Boy Next Door' social media page lacks this. As the audience knows plenty of facts about the movie, they are not given a clear message of the movie.

Analysis of how you will use this to develop your own social media presence:

I will use this as a way to make sure that I incorporate important facts about my production on my social media page. It is important that my audience is knowledgeable about my film. However, I will make sure to always convey the message of my production! My audience will be completely aware of the brand I am trying to develop.

In conclusion...

Now that I have analyzed or mentioned the social media pages of similar productions, you all can now understand why social media is essential to the success of a production. Social Media helps advertise and market a film. Marketing is one of the main ways productions catch the attention of their target audience. With this being said, I have another surprise for you guys. I will be creating my own social media page for my Portfolio Project! I will be releasing all of the information on my social media page on my next blog post, so stay tuned. XOXO

Research/Planning for Portfolio Project

Good morning readers, I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Today, I will be giving you guys the title of my film. In addition, I will be going over the outline/synopsis of my film. This blog post will be one for the books, so BUCKLE UP!

Before I reveal the title of my film, I must go over what a title is! Some of you might already know what a title is, although I will still explain for those that do not. Regarding this project, a title is basically the name of a film. Titles are your audience's initial impression of what your screenplay is about. Additionally, titles provide an initial connection between your audience and the film. Every film must have a title. The title that is chosen sets the tone or mood of your movie and gives your audience a hint of what to expect. Ultimately, titles can make or break a film!

Now that I have given you all background information on what a title of a production is, I will reveal to you guys the title of my film...

The title of my film is Only Mine.

Some of you all might be wondering "Why that name"? To answer your question, 'Only Mine' is a great representation of the plot of my film. As a reminder, my film surrounds a teenage girl and her obsessive boyfriend. This teenage girl is known as Sarah and her boyfriend's name is Jacob. As time progresses in Jacob and Sarah's relationship, Jacob becomes more aggressive and infatuated with Sarah. He has the mentality that Sarah is all for him and no one else. As I explain my film more, you all will definitely understand why I chose 'Only Mine' as the title.

A film synopsis or outline is basically a scene-by-scene breakdown of the entire story of your screenplay. An outline can be as detailed as the writer wants it to be. For example, it can be a basic breakdown of story elements. Or, it can be very thorough, including some types of action and dialogue. The main purpose of a film outline is to help the audience envision the story. The audience is able to do this because the story is broken down into chunks or sections. As a result, storytelling becomes more manageable. The audience is able to focus on sections of the story and see how each section works together.
