Hey readers, welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone is having an amazing day. This week, my class peers and I conducted group meetings. Each group had six students and were created for the sole purpose to gain feedback on our portfolio projects. My group and I discussed various topics that were beneficial for our projects. Today, I will be going over each topic and how it helped me with my project!
Topics:
- Scheduling and planning issues
One of the main topics of our discussion was scheduling and planning. Some students had issues with following a designated schedule for their project. As a solution, we all agreed to set deadlines for ourselves. This would allow us to develop discipline and make sure things are getting completed in a timely manner. One of the worst things a person can do is procrastinate, and we are trying to prevent this. It is always smart to be organized on any project you do.
- Possible Filming Locations
Throughout our meeting, another classmate (Miguel) was trying to decide on where he should film his project. He was split between three possible locations, and I made sure to see which one was the best. I asked him about his props or characters for the film, to help visualize the best location. Our group and I thoroughly discussed the pros and cons of each location, and which location we personally felt was the best fit. I feel as though our advice definitely helped Miguel out with his decision!
- Logo Options
As our group meeting continued, we began to discuss Logo designs. The students that were developing a Documentary mainly had questions on Logos. A question that was asked was, "What website is best to develop logos?" In addition, "What color scheme is the best for my logo?" Each group member gave their honest opinion and provided various resources to help create logos. As an example, Canva was a popular resource that was mentioned. Personally, I mentioned Canva and helped each student out with the color scheme of their Logo.
- Feedback on my project
As our group meeting wrapped up, we discussed the development of my Portfolio Project. I mentioned to my fellow members, that I was having a bit of trouble deciding when or where to film. My group members advised me to finish the planning stage of my project this week and begin filming next weekend. They advised me to definitely create a shot list and film both of my film trailers within a day or two. This is so, the content of my trailers will be consistent with one another. It is not ideal for film trailers to be confusing or confuse their audience. Their advice was very beneficial and I will definitely listen to it.
Overall, I am glad that I was able to participate in this group meeting. It is always good to get advise from your peers to see the areas you need to improve. In addition, my peers consist of my target audience (young adults). I am able to see how my target audience could potentially react to my film!
